Angela Buxton - Therapist, Barnes, London

How I Work

I practise integrative existential psychotherapy. I am influenced most by Freud, Kierkegaard and Heidegger. As an existential psychotherapist, I believe that each of us can choose how to live and how to relate to others.

Psychotherapy is a conversation between a trained therapist and one or more clients where the aim is for the client to better understand his or her issues and available choices in relationships with others.

The specific aim of the psychotherapy is always determined by the client. You decide which issues you speak about in therapy. Examples of problems that might be brought to therapy are: relationship issues, addictions, difficulty in controlling anger, anxiety, feelings of meaningless in life and so on.

As a psychotherapist, I meet with individuals or couples weekly or more frequently at an agreed time for a duration of fifty minutes.

I charge for each session at a similar rate to other trained psychotherapists.
